Solar Power Plants In CMRL Premises

CMRL is highly committed to achieving energy security and reducing carbon emissions through the implementation of green energy concepts. This involves generating renewable energy via the installation of rooftop, ground-mounted, and parking area solar plants across various premises, including Metro Rail depots, elevated and underground stations.

As of the present date, our efforts have culminated in the successful installation of approximately 6.4 MWp of solar capacity. This noteworthy achievement has resulted in the generation of around three crore units of electricity from renewable sources. The positive impact of these efforts is two-fold: not only are we contributing to the reduction of carbon footprint, but we are also realizing tangible financial savings. Through the utilization of power generated by these solar plants, we have managed to save a substantial sum of approximately six crores (in rupees).

With this existing 6.4 Mwp of solar rooftop, CMRL able to generate 12 % to 15 % of energy of total non-traction energy consumption.

Building upon our accomplishments and recognizing the potential for further growth, we have taken the initiative a step further.

Further two contracts awarded for installation of solar plants in Roof tops and parking spaces.
