Chennai Metro Rail Limited – Metro rail stations are designed to efficiently transport large numbers of passengers within urban areas. Vital to Metro functionality, there are vertical transportation systems, essentially Lifts and Escalators which play a crucial role in facilitating seamless passenger flow, enhancing accessibility to differently abled and elderly commuters to reach various levels in Metro Stations. Lift & Escalator systems ensure safe and comfort mobility to complete the Passenger journey.
Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase-I and Phase-I Extension (total of 40 stations and 54 Kms for Corridor-1 and Corridor-2), which are already in public use, is provided with 166 Nos. Lifts and 215 Nos. Escalators for navigating the passengers to different levels of a metro station.
Chennai Metro Rail Phase-II project is committed to provide a modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly metro system. In Project Phase II, it is planned to implement 3 corridors viz Corridor-3, Corridor-4 & Corridor-5 (total of 118.9 Kms). A quantum of 1350 Nos. (approx.) Lifts and Escalators will be installed for Phase-II metro rail system indicates a significant value in enhancing passenger mobility and accessibility.
