Facilities for Differently Abled People

Every metro station is designed for Universal access from the street level to the platform level and within the trains. The details are as given below:

  • Drop off bays with kerb ramps at the street level and Kerb ramps connecting from the Road level to the footpath level, in proximity to the lift entries.
  • Tactile from the drop off bays to the station lift entry.
  • Dedicated parking space close to one or more station entry.
  • Entry ramps with 1:12 slope, connecting from street level to the footpath level and to the podium level.
  • Tactile for visually challenged from station entry at street level to concourse and ultimately to platform level through ticketing office.
  • Dedicated low height ticket counters at Concourse level.
  • Dedicated wide AFC gates for wheel chair access.
  • Continuous handrails on both the sides of the staircases and at a height of 900mm.
  • Lifts from street to concourse and from concourse to platform level.
  • Dedicated seating areas as platform level with grab rails.
  • 100mm wide warning strips at 600mm from the platform edge at platform level.
  • Low height drinking water fountains
  • Chime and Audio indication during the arrival/departure of trains inside the Metro stations.
  • Differently abled toilets at concourse/ platform level.
  • Tactile path leading to the Differently abled toilets.
  • Colour contrasting strips at the beginning and end of the staircase.
  • Identification signage on the door for wheelchair accessible coach
  • Computer based public announcement system
  • Long stop buttons inside trains
  • Dedicated space for wheel chair inside trains
  • Braille system and provision of handrails inside lifts
  • Provision of grooving at staircases
  • Lower height lift panels
  • Provision of wheel chairs and stretchers at Station Control Room.
  • Installation of Loop induction units
  • Signage’s at appropriate locations.
